When Transport Becomes a Barrier to Education: Teacher Annet’s Story

Transport is one of the reasons some teachers miss school,” says Teacher Annet, a dedicated educator and proud Power Teacher.

In Uganda, where teachers earn between USD 120–164 monthly, transport costs can consume up to 15% of their income. The result? Many simply can’t afford to reach the classroom.

At Power Teachers Africa, we are addressing this challenge head-on. Our model provides targeted, cost-effective support to help teachers overcome barriers like transport — so they can show up, stay motivated, and keep children learning.
